With
individualized courses and Case Supervision by a highly
trained Narconon staff member Narconon aims to put our students in charge of their life
and in control of their decisions. The ability to recognize
and overcome barriers, the skills to develop personal
integrity and the knowledge to troubleshoot their own road
through life gives the
Narconon student a new found sense of life and the staying
power to remain drug and alcohol free.
Phase 1:
The program starts with a withdrawal process that is quite tolerable for most people. Nutritional supplements are used to support the body’s detoxification process and begin to alleviate depression. Gentle physical techniques are used to calm spasms, aches and pains. Gradual reorientation processes are used to help the person realize that he is now safe and in a new, completely drug-free environment. Constant monitoring tracks the person’s vital signs, appetite and sleep so staff can be sure the person is safely and comfortably coming off drugs.
The Narconon New Life Detoxification Program is an exact regimine of exercise, sauna and nutritional supplements that rid the fatty tissues in the body of drug residues and other accumulated toxins.
The Therapeutic Training Routines Course designed to teach the student to handle communication and extroverts the student and gets him/her into better communication with others and the environment.
Phase 2:
The Learning Improvement Course gives the student the ability to study and retain knowledge by recognizing and overcoming the barriers to study and learning.
The Communication and Perception Course is the counseling portion of the program and increases awareness and helps the student control and be in better communication with their environment. The student also helps another student do these counselling steps. By taking responsibility for helping another, the student increases his own responsibility and gains the ability to handle life far better and help others.
Phase 3:
The Ups and Downs in Life Course gives the necessary knowledge to achieve greater personal stability and happiness in life. The student learns the characteristics of the social personality as well as the antisocial personality so he can spot the difference and better choose friends and associates.
The Personal Values and Integrity Course gives the knowledge necessary to determine one’s own values and achieve high personal integrity and honesty. It shows how to correct contra-survival actions by ridding himself of past harmful deeds.
The Narconon Changing Conditions in Life Course uses the ethics technology developed by L. Ron Hubbard to apply exact steps that improve conditions in life and repair previous bad conditions. This is where the student can make amends or undo those actions the student themselves regret.
The Narconon Way to Happiness Course teaches the student a secular (non religious) moral code as a guide to living a happy life.
The sauna. The first step to a drug-free life. How it works with the rest of the program.
A unique aspect of the Narconon program is a complete and thorough detoxification of the body. This is achieved in the sauna.
Drug residues remain lodged in the fatty tissues of the body and are released into the bloodstream (even many years after a person has stopped taking drugs). This can rekindle old cravings and trigger “flashbacks”.
The Narconon program uses low-heat sauna, vitamins, nutrition and exercise to cleanse the body of drugs and other toxic substances. This eliminates cravings and can handle the desire to take drugs in the future.
By themselves these methods are not new. Vitamins, proper nutrition, correct diet, exercise and saunas have all been used successfully by health practitioners for a long time for various ailments. What is new is the exact combination of all these methods, as they are used at Narconon, to totally eliminate all traces of drugs, alcohol and chemical toxins from the body.
We don’t know of any other program that can offer these results.
International Studies of L.Ron Hubbard’s Sauna Detoxification Procedure
The detoxification method developed by Mr. Hubbard has been shown safe and effective in reducing levels of certain chemicals in humans, including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB’s) and pesticides and in decreasing the adverse signs and symptoms associated with exposure to these chemicals.
Use of this detoxification
program at Narconon is based on the premise that drug
residues remain in the body tissues long after active use
has ceased and that these residues contribute to both
persistent symptoms and the craving for drugs.
This study demonstrates that this detoxification program is
effective in alleviating some of the symptomatic complaints
reported by drug users.
Cocaine amphetamine and benzodiazepine metabolites are found
in both the urine and the sweat of individuals who have used
these drugs as they undergo detoxification treatment.
Individuals reported marked
reduction in drug cravings following this program.
Considering the high level of reversion in drug users, the
potential effects of drug residues on reversion and the
alleviation of these effects through detoxification, it
becomes evident that detoxification treatment has broad
application in the drug rehabilitation field.
Papers documenting the efficacy of Mr Hubbard’s program have been published by such organizations as the World Health Organization, the Royal Swedish Academy of Science, the Society for Occupational and Environmental Health, and others, as well as in proceedings of international conferences.
A study of 249 clients with a
history of drug abuse showed marked improvement in clinical
symptoms after the procedure.
A 1997 scientific study found that residual drugs were
factually eliminated from the body, confirming Mr Hubbard’s
discoveries.
“Following treatment (with Mr Hubbard’s method), both past and current drug users reported marked improvements in symptoms… This detoxification program represents a vital innovation in drug rehabilitation: an approach aimed at a long term reduction of the predisposition for drug abuse”.
Reduction of Drug Residues: Applications in Drug Rehabilitation, Annual meeting of the American Public Health Association, 1995.
